In the morning, I am off on holiday to Tenerife for two weeks. It is supposed to be a relaxing family holiday, but for me, it's working in a different setting. First of all, I have the photographs from The Blind Tiger Burlesque and the Marseille gig to sort through. Then I want to get some good shots of Tenerife since all my experience so far is in gig photography.
Writing is my major task though. I've been in a five-month slump with my creative output, and I think the change of scenery is exactly what I need. So yes, working in the sun for me!
When I return, that's when the relaxing begins, for I am home but a day before I go swanning off to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Nothing says 'relaxation' to me more than stand-up comedy. And my abdominals can get a good work-out from all the laughing. Then I'll have my birthday. August is a good month for me. Come September though, I shall return to job hunting and starting my new photography course.

an update of sorts
Wow, so I haven't actually done anything with this blog yet. Blame real life. It's been quite a bumpy little ride the past few weeks, with the biggest pothole being my cat, Salem. My companion and best friend for fourteen years was put to sleep recently by virtue of him having cancer. We'd already amputated one of his legs a few months back and there's literally nothing else we could have done to save him. He was too old to survive another operation.
So I've been down in the dumps about his loss and it's really ruining my creativity. Not only have I not posted the Take That photos yet (though they are all ready), I also did some photography for The Blind Tiger Burlesque that I haven't even looked at yet. I'll get round to it. At least I'm starting a photography course in September, that might help matters.
On the writing front, things are improving. I haven't written anything of any consequence since March, and I've suffered a massive writer's block ever since. Until today. I searched through some of my old writing exercises from university and it's kickstarted something in me. It may only be 500 words at the moment, but it's 500 words more than what I had before. Unfortunately, I now have a month and a few days to meet this deadline for an anthology. Don't think I'll make it, since the word count must be 25-30,000 words, but I'm gonna give it a good shot.
